Thomas J. Lyneis
Thomas Lyneis is an associate attorney specializing in intellectual property. Thomas assists a variety of businesses of all sizes including start-ups and individual inventors by providing personalized and strategic guidance in navigating the complicated world of intellectual property. Although he is talented in all areas of intellectual property law, his engineering background makes him an ideal candidate for patent related matters including, patentability, freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions.
During his time at the University of Wisconsin Law School, Thomas tailored his academic experience on intellectual property and business law. After exhausting the intellectual property courses, he continued to study its nuances using the Law School’s independent study program. While there, he appeared on the Dean’s Honor List and earned a Business Law Certificate. Outside the classroom, Thomas served as the Vice President of the Intellectual Property Student Organization and worked at the Law & Entrepreneurship Clinic, gaining valuable experience working with many Wisconsin based companies.
Prior to attending law school, Thomas earned an engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he focused his studies on finite element analysis, aerodynamics, advanced mechanical testing, and wind tunnel testing. His senior design project involved a mechanical regenerative braking system for bicycles which included a unique variable speed transmission and a custom designed flywheel.
In his spare time, Thomas enjoys snowboarding and camping with his wife, and is also a recent addition to the board of directors of the Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation.
