Supporting High School Robotics Programs

Boyle Fredrickson is proud to sponsor FRC (FIRST® Robotics Competition) teams from Brookfield East and Central, Catholic Memorial, and Marquette University and Divine Savior Holy Angles (DSHA) high schools.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit organization that promotes extracurricular activities in STEM (Science, Technology, Education, and Math) areas. FIRST’s mission is “to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

FRC teams have six weeks to brainstorm, prototype, design, build, and test a robot that fits a particular year’s specific competition requirements. The season is intense and requires collaboration on may levels, including between students from different schools, different grades, with different interests, and between the students and their mentors and coaches.

Three Boyle Fredrickson-sponsored FRC teams put their engineering skills and custom-built robots to the test with the goal of reaching the annual FIRST World Championship competition held at the Cobo Center in Detroit this past April. More than 15,000 students from around the world participated in this year’s championship showdown in Detroit. One of the teams earned their spot after competing in March against 55 other teams in the Wisconsin Regional in Milwaukee.

The combined Brookfield East and Central High School (BEAST Robotics) team won the Pit Safety Award and one of their Juniors won the coveted Dean’s List Finalist Award at the Wisconsin Regional. The BEAST team then went on to finish 26th overall in the Archimedes Division of the FIRST World Championship while winning the Innovation in Control Award sponsored by Rockwell Automation.

The CyberSaders from Catholic Memorial High School CyberSaders finished 12th out of 55 teams and narrowly missed going to the playoffs. The team was unfortunately not selected to a playoff alliance, however, it was a successful season for their young program in only its third year.

The Marquette University/DSHA high school team (Hilltopper Robotics) made it to the Wisconsin Regional quarter-finals before losing to the #1 seed, and eventual winner, of the Regional.
