Michael is experienced in all areas of intellectual property law, including licensing, patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret law. He is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and he is admitted to practice by the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Federal and Seventh Circuit and Military Courts of Appeal and the Eastern and Western District Courts of Wisconsin.
An honest, straight-forward thinker, Michael is a strong client advocate who is active in the professional community and frequently lectures on various IP topics. He is a past president of the board of directors for the State Bar of Wisconsin's Intellectual Property Section and past chair of the Milwaukee Bar Association's Intellectual Property Section and St. Thomas More Lawyers Society. He is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
Michael is a published author (most recently co-authoring the chapters on patents and trade secrets for the State Bar's Business Advisory Series) and regularly lectures at the Wisconsin State Bar, Marquette and UW-Madison Law Schools, the Wisconsin World Trade Council and other venues.
Michael earned his undergraduate degree (Dean's Honors List) and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael is a former Captain and Air National Guard Judge Advocate who also served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force with a Top Secret clearance as a space systems crew commander and flight operations control officer.
A Boyle Fredrickson founding shareholder, Michael now serves the firm's board of directors as vice president. Michael lives with his family in New Berlin, Wisconsin.
