James F. Boyle

Jim is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and he is experienced in all areas of intellectual property law and related litigation. A Boyle Fredrickson past president, Jim has over 25 years of experience in commercial litigation, focusing primarily on intellectual property litigation.

Regarded for his deep knowledge of engineering and his ability to quickly get to the heart of legal matters, Jim is a respected voice in the legal community. He is known for considering his clients’ broader business issues and forging a fit between those issues and a sound legal strategy.

In addition to preparing and prosecuting both patent and trademark applications, Jim has successfully litigated many cases involving patent infringement, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation and copyright infringement of misappropriated architectural works in both federal and state courts.

Jim earned both his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and his law degree from Marquette University. He has been an active leader in several professional and community service organizations. Jim sits on the National Advisory Council of the Marquette University School of Engineering and is also a frequent lecturer on topics such as patent protection.

A Boyle Frederickson shareholder, he lives with his family in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
