Jim is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is experienced in all areas of intellectual property law and related litigation. He has 23 years of experience in commercial litigation, focusing exclusively on intellectual property litigation for the past 18 years.

Regarded for his deep knowledge of engineering and ability to quickly get to the heart of legal matters, Jim is a respected voice in the legal community. He is known for considering his clients’ broader business issues and forging a fit between those issues and legal strategy.

In addition to preparing and prosecuting both patent and trademark applications, Jim has successfully litigated many cases involving patent infringement, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and copyright infringement of misappropriated architectural works in both federal and state courts.

Jim earned both his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and his law degree from Marquette University. He has been an active leader in several professional and community service organizations. Jim sits on the National Advisory Council of the Marquette University School of Engineering and is also a frequent lecturer on topics such as patent protection.
